Poo

I came across a funny little contraption this week - I get daily emails from Daily Candy (the New York edition, the Atlanta edition, the Travel edition, AND the London edition).. yes, 3-4 emails greeting me every morning. Anyway, I was reading the London edition the other day and was blown away that someone would have thought of and created a Shit Box. That’s the actual name. The boxes come with 10 degradable poo bags. It goes from popping the box, to folding the box, to Shit box, to get this.. a STOOL. Haha. I’m too easily entertained…

On a separate note… I found this link today. It’s been a long time since the JCBC days at BC. I can’t believe they actually listed us old folks in their history, nice.

August will be a great month

Domo-kun reached his new home this week, hopefully he’s enjoying his new life in the Midwest. I’ve heard a lot of great things about what MN has to offer. Save a seat on that swing for me…;)

I finally got to check out Sarabeth’s today (after 8 years of wanting to go!!). Thanks Kozueちゃん! I have to admit, I went in with high hopes which is probably why I was disappointed. The food was at most an “eh”… The scone and preserves was the highlight of my meal - so I guess I’ll stick with that and forget the actual brunch menu in the future. On the other hand, Katie mentioned that they serve afternoon tea — and if you know me, you know that I LOVE this English tradition. Will have to go back for it soon…. MMMmmmmm…

I am currently in the process of setting up a trip with my parents to go to Reynold’s Plantation (Ritz Carlton!) for a golf vacation. Basically, it’s for their anniversary… I still have no idea why I’m going since it should be a day for the two of them to celebrate. But that’s my dad’s wish, so wish granted! I’m hoping to squeeze in a visit with Christian and finally meet his daughter while we’re out there.

On a separate note, I came across this article, and WOW, I don’t ever want my parents to set me up at one of these “marriage marts.” I’d be so incredibly upset if they did. Then again, my parents know me well enough so they would never consider this which means I’m pretty safe. Phew! But when I think of my friends in Japan who still live at home… yeah, their more traditional parents would totally do this. Yikes…

Anyway… wrapping up. I’m currently listening to an older album by Stars - Set Yourself on Fire, as well as some old Goldfrapp - à la Black Cherry and Supernature days. I desperately need some new music. Someone? Anyone? Taking suggestions - the iPod is begging for updates.

Finally… Congratulations to J for winning his tournament today! I’m so extremely happy for you!!!! :)

July 27

Let’s see, the last update was around the time of Winnie’s last birthday. Well guess what. She has another birthday today, so I guess it’s time to update.

I’ve had quite a remarkable past few weeks, primarily due to a random encounter involving a wiener. Yes, you read that right, ladies and gents. If you see me glowing, the wiener and Kool-Aid did it (and maybe a particular green-eyed sweet cheeks armed with dancing bananas can take some credit too?!)…. Oh I know, this probably isn’t making any sense to most of you. :) I’m on cloud nine.

I had a craving for a fish taco last night, so we left a friend’s rooftop birthday to go to Snack Dragon on East 3rd Street. YUM. This is me with my tongue sticking out… I think I adopted this pose from my dearest stand-in boyfriend of the moment, Winnie. Perhaps I’m spending a wee bit more time with her than I should?? :P

Oh, I finally saw the Dark Knight. I’ve never been one to over-analyze and discuss a movie. Let me just tell you, GO SEE IT! Talk about intense… Man…

Alright, I better get going. I need to make a dish for Winnie’s BBQ tonight… I’m thinking minced chicken/veggie lettuce wraps with my special sauce… But I just realized I forgot to buy red onions. SHOOT. Off to the grocery store, I go~

[edit: As I returned from my first trip to the store, I realized I forgot to buy cilantro! If only my herb garden had survived, I wouldn't have to go back out.... Needless to say, I had to go back to the store.]

One last thing… Domo-kun has been my pal the last few days. I’ll be sad to see him go, but he’s going to have a new home soon. いってらっしゃい!

mid-July update

I know. Updates are in order… prepare yourself for a long post:

1. So… after those last 2 posts with me obsessing over the iPhone, I got one! Score! I went to the store at 2am on Saturday morning with Winnie, only to learn they had closed the line until 7am. So I went home to get 2 hours of shut-eye, only to be back in line by 6:45am. I finally got the phone at 12:30pm! I will never, ever, get in line for anything for that long again… My lower back and feet were killing me - I’m getting too old for this kind of excitement.

2. Winnie’s birthday/Sunil in town - the celebrations started Friday for Winnie’s 30th. We met up with Sunil and his friends and headed to Gama on St. Mark’s for dinner, then to 10 Degrees in the East Village for drinks. It was after the drinking, when Winnie and I headed up to the 24 hour Apple Store. Call us crayjee.
Winnie - birthday girl

Saturday night was her 2nd dinner - this time at Republic with more college friends and her younger brother. Then we headed to the Musical Box for drinks, then moved the party a block over to Forbidden City. I was her chaperone for the night, so I steered clear of the hard liquor and made sure she didn’t do anything she’d later regret! Don’t worry Mike, your lady was in good hands and under the watchful eyes of ME. I’m such an awesome friend (with a lack of modesty) hahaha. :)

3. Text messaging - the cons. Can I just say, I dislike the use of text messaging to replace simple phone calls. I mean, seriously people! Why can’t you just dial my number instead of sending me a stupid @$$ message?? Especially if you’re going to try to ask me out after having no contact with me for weeks. Not even a call to say hello. I feel it’s terribly impersonal. I’d rather hear your voice - regardless of whether you’re delivering good/bad news, etc. I want to talk to a real person, where I can hear some genuineness behind the voice.
Don’t send me a one word text message with a title of a movie and a question mark behind it. How do you expect me to respond? Are you trying to ask me out and see it? Are you asking how it was? WHAT??!! (This happened a few days ago, and I was heated…)

Remember the video on one of my previous posts about the new generation of dating and the use of texting? Look, I think it’s playful to have a few initial texts to break the ice, especially if you are a good text-flirt, and most of all, if I like you. But after a few dates, you still haven’t picked up a phone to physically talk to me - and instead, you send a last minute TEXT to arrange a meet-up - you are not the person for me. Maybe you just don’t know any better. But, it’s disrespectful. Why do I have to feel rejected or hurt because of your immature behavior? I have more respect for myself than that, and would much rather involve myself with a gentleman with some old-fashioned manners.

I’m sorry to go off like this guys. But for those who know me well, you know I’m always game for a fun text conversation. But you also TALK to me. I consider myself to be a respectful, caring and honest person, and only ask for the same (and hopefully more!) in return. I’ve only ventured out on a handful of dates since my last relationship, but dating shouldn’t be this difficult should it? Thank goodness my girlfriends are awesome, because I am so turned off by the NYC dating world!

4. Guess what! I think I found my soulmate online!! Hahaha. You know who you are. Thank you for making me giggle like a schoolgirl every day. Hahahaha.

Alright, I’m trimming this down to here. I could write more, but then I’d probably lose you… Til next time.

iPhone 3G

This is great - Jeff’s famous! Well, kind of….
Check out this Bloomberg article, and scroll down to the last paragraph.
That is AWESOME, go Jeff! (How the heck did you end up in this article anyway??)

Alright, my plan to get the iPhone this morning was a failure. Mainly because I was lazy. I went to bed around 1am. Then tossed and turned (thanks to Little) for about 2 hours, fell into deep sleep, but it wasn’t deep enough because Annie woke up around 4am to get to the Apple Store for work, and then tossed and turned (must have been excited about the phone). I should have just gotten up and followed Annie to work!!!! *sigh*

So the lazy-woman’s plan is to check tomorrow’s iPhone stock availability online tonight, and head out to the Cube in the morning. Anyone want to join me??
